Description of Issue

In rare cases we have seen unexpected carvings where the depth becomes shallower as the bit moves from right to left (as seen facing the machine) doing a raster pattern.

Possible Causes

Causes include a loose bit, a board that varies in thickness from side to side, a cupped board or a machine with an unlevel head.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Check that the bit is not loose in the holder.
  2. Verify that the board is not thicker on one side.
  3. Check the board for major cupping on both the top and bottom surfaces.  A cupped board can result in depth variations in the side-to-side direction.
  4. If none of the above steps solves the issue consult with CarveWright Service.
