The RAVEN uses the AccuTrack belt to lock onto the tracking roller.  Because of the positive engagement the RAVEN trust the tracking rollers reading without exception.  Any error on X (over .1 inches) with a RAVEN is always the result of coming off of the AccuTrack belt or an overload in X.

Preventing X position errors

  1. Allway check that the AccuTrack belt is securely attached to the work piece.
    1. New AccuTrack belt material can have a slight residue on it that prevents the belt from sticking securely.  Wiping the belt with rubbing alcohol will eliminate the residue and help ensure good adhesion.
    2. It is easy to catch the AccuTracktape when inserting the workpiece into the RAVEN.  Once the workpiece is inserted, always check that the  AccuTrack belt is secure before proceeding with the project.
    3. On Jigs it is a good idea to staple the ends of the AccuTrack belt to keep it in place.
  2. Alway support the workpiece so it will not cantilever when it comes out from under a roller.  Cantilevering can result in the AccuTrack belt being lifted off the tracking roller.
  3. Never perform an operation closer than 1 inch from the front (clear cover side) of the workpiece.  The tracking roller is located  in front of the bit and needs a minimum of 1 inch to assure that the AccuTrack belt remains in contact.
  4. Overloads in X can result from a wedged workpiece, a piece of the project coming loose and jamming in the machine or a dull bit.  The RAVEN will drive X with everything it has to assure that the tracking roller is where it should be but in an overload situation it can not succeed.  Always monitor the RAVEN.  If an overload situation occurs, stop the machine as quickly as possible to avoid damage to the machine and or workpiece.
