Carving of an Imported Image is Very Rough

/CARVEWRIGHT / CarveWright Troubleshooting / Carving Quality / Carving of an Imported Image is Very Rough

  • Carving Quality

Description of Issue

Users sometimes report very unsatisfactory results when carving imported images or graphics.  Customer needs to be aware that carving an imported picture is very difficult to make look right in wood.  The reason why is that the machine is trying to carve every single detail of the picture and there is a limited amount of information contained in a photo.

Possible Causes

Low resolution on the imported images causes rough carving.

Troubleshooting Steps

Use high resolution photos and graphics.  Use the pattern editor tools in the software to clean up the images, especially around the edges.  There are several Tips and Tricks articles on the Learn section of the CarveWright website that detail these tools.
